My Approach

Hi there, my name is Emma. I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master's in Counselling Psychology, looking to bring affordable therapy to individuals across Canada. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, so we work together to define your goals, determine what's not working, and strengthen areas for growth.

I believe every individual gets something different out of therapy, and the importance of tailoring our sessions to your unique needs by pulling the strengths from different therapeutic approaches. I have undergone additional training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Somatic Psychotherapy; I use a combination of each method per your needs and goals.

I aim to offer a warm, non-judgmental environment for you to explore areas of yourself that you may not feel able to tackle independently. For any questions or to learn more, book a free 15-minute consultation at a time that is convenient to you.

Services

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers one-on-one sessions where we can explore anything and everything that is important to you. Whether you're looking to build your skills, get a neutral perspective, take an inventory of your emotional processing abilities, or just vent, I'm here to help. Together we can establish your goals and discover how to achieve them using a solution-focused and value-oriented approach.

Couples Therapy

Humans fight, they're bound to disagree, and conflict is inevitable. Not arguing is not the mark of a good relationship, but rather how you handle them. Couples counselling helps you understand how your needs are, or are not, being met, and works on developing healthy ways of communicating them. I take a neutral, compassionate stance to help you navigate discourse and establish mutually beneficial agreements.

Family Therapy

Whether you're navigating conflict, major life transitions, or simply looking to build a healthier family dynamic, family therapy provides a supportive space to foster understanding and co-operation. Together, we’ll work to create stronger, more resilient relationships.

Trauma-informed Therapy

Trauma isn't defined by the severity of the event, but by the significance of its impact on you. Trauma and stress can have lasting effects on our day-to-day lives, both consciously and subconsciously, manifesting in physical, emotional and mental symptoms. Trauma therapy is a specific, evidence-based method for processing and healing from traumatic experiences in a way that is meaningful to you.

Non-Traditional Relationships

Non-traditional relationship therapy caters to the unique needs and dynamics present in a range of modern romantic relationships, including open, poly and queer relationships. It provides a safe space to navigate conflict and increase partnership, free of the need to explain or justify what makes you- you.

Children and Teen Therapy

Being a kid is not easy. With pressures from school, family, and an ever-present social media, more and more youth are experiencing anxiety, depression, and adopting harmful coping mechanisms. Children, adolescents, and teen therapy focuses on skill-building, emotional regulation, and decision-making processes to help your child manage their feelings and build self-esteem.

The right match

No matter what kind of therapy you are looking for, I believe the most important factor is ensuring the right match between client and therapist, ensuring a genuine therapeutic relationship.
